I am remodeling a house and we have put up new drywall and want to know in what order to finish it. I am having pros do the tape and mud, but I am going to do the painting and stain and hang trim.Do I paint walls and stain baseboard and trim work before instaling on wall when on house w/ new walls?
OK, I have done this before. First off, paint the walls first before anything. While the walls are drying, get your base boards cut to length and stained. Be very careful to ensure all is dry. Accdording to how ever many coats of pain and varnis or stain, it will take you a bit but, I would paint the walls first. then while they are drying, measure and cut my new base boards and stain them and get them ready. After it all dries then install the base boards. thats the order and how you should do the job. it will looks very professional then.Do I paint walls and stain baseboard and trim work before instaling on wall when on house w/ new walls?
Paint first, stain trim before installation
yes--- paint your walls, stain as much trim as possible then install, will give you more ';crisper'; lines on your trim work. use matching clored putty for your nail holes---- thats the way i do it, otherwise a lot of taping off and paint touch ups
I would measure your trim first, paint the walls second, stain the trim, and then hang the trim. In this order you will not scratch your paint or put your hand on wet paint while measuring the trim and will not need to navigate around a room full of open paint cans or spilled paint, could get messy. Then move the trim out of the area possibly out of the room to do the cutting and staining. Paint the room. Cut before you stain. Hang trim and enjoy your new room.
