How do you get rid of an interior water stain on a ceiling? Is their a certain paint needed ?

Before doing anything, make sure the source of the problem is resolved. Spray the area liberally with Tilex, making sure you don't get any in your eyes. A second application may be needed after it drys. Coat with primer, Kilz or Zinser (water base), may require additional coats. In order to make things look right, you will have to paint the entire ceiling with ceiling paint. How do you get rid of an interior water stain on a ceiling? Is their a certain paint needed ?

Having worked in the paint business for a while, and having been in the Navy painting for a while, and having painted houses for a while, I can tellyou that the best thing to use is white pigmented shellac on the ceiling. Zinser, or how ever you spell it, makes it and it is carried in either Lowes or Home Depot.
If it's moldy, you need to clean it with a solution of bleach and water, just wipe it down a few times and let it dry thoroughly.

Then use a good stainblocker primer/sealer, like Kilz or Bin, then paint as usual.
You can spray a bit of'; Clorox Clean up'; on the ceiling but do place a white towel underneath so the floor won't get bleached.
Kilz paint sealer
you can use any spray can paint on the water stain then paint two coats of your ceiling paint I do this all the time 30 years professional painter
get your self a small can, of a product called-..kilz.

Usualy comes in a white can. It is a white color, resembles a primer, or use shelack. Either one will keep any water or dis colored stains from re apearing, when you paint.

Works on ceiling tiles, and walls
