If there is, in what way? After painted on wood, could you tell the difference in appearance btwn the white paint and the white stain?
its not so much the difference as it is where its going to be.stains are more protective as it soaks into the wood fibers.paints are more of a covering and don't really penetrate unless it is a primer.it will also effect the durability and length of time it can be spent in the elements.overall appearance will be virtually the same.remember do it right first time as mistakes cost time and money. After painted on wood, could you tell the difference in appearance btwn the white paint and the white stain?
stain soaks in the wood fibres and actualy stains the wood itself.
Paint is a layer on the top of the wood
Paint is opaque so you wouldn't be able to see the grain of the wood, whereas the stain is a bit translucent and would show some of the grain of the wood.
Stain doesn't come in white. If you can see the grain plainly the paint is most likely a flat white that mostly soaked into the wood. It might be a primer like Kilz.
