I am tired of the dark grain in my oak cabinets. Should I paint them or stain them?

Oak isn't a very dark wood. If they are dark it's because the finish has yellowed. I'd sand them down and put a fresh coat of poly on them.I am tired of the dark grain in my oak cabinets. Should I paint them or stain them?
The grain in wood gives it character. Leave your cabinets alone. Or if you're tired of them, replace them.
