Modern oak table. Colour faded where tried to remove childs paint stain. How can I restore it?

Is it stained (as in wood stain) or painted. If it has been wood stained, try rubbing mayonnaise on it. Work it in like a polish. Has worked for me on heat discoloration to my wood table. If that doesn't try an Orange Glo product. If all else fails, sand it down and restain/paint. Kids are fun. Good luck!Modern oak table. Colour faded where tried to remove childs paint stain. Without knowing what is the finish, the wood, the color and the extent of damage, it's difficult to suggest a solution.

Most commercial furniture is finished with lacquer, sometimes the lacquer has color in it. Sanding, applying a stain (meant to be applied to raw wood), and ';slapping on some polyurethane'; is probably not the right approach if you want it to look the same.

I do these repairs professionally and use a variety of techniques based on the damage I see, what has worked for this before, and even some trials to see how it is responding. It may be something as simple as adding back a bit of colored lacquer (toner) with spray or padding and then just adjusting the gloss level.

Color matching is a whole different issue and there is no substitute for this other than experience, samples, and color theory knowledge.

I suggest you call in a professional. If you don't, just be prepared to live with an obvious patch or entire strip and refinish. (I am currently waiting on finish to dry on a dining table that the owner tried a DIY approach to repairing some damage and caused more. Now it's strip and refinish time.)Modern oak table. You've said it's oak table, so it is natural in color? Try to use a sandpaper and use a varnish so it will look new again. Check in your area what varnish shade will look best on your table. Good luck.
